Recently, Long Mingce and Zhang Lizhi's research group from the School of Environmental Science and Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University published a research paper entitled “CoN1O2 Single-Atom Catalyst for Efficient Peroxymonosulfate Activation and Selective Cobalt(IV)=O Generation” in the well-known academic journal Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. The research proposed a CoN1O2 single-atom strategy for selective Cobalt(IV)=O generation via peroxymonosulfate activation, which breaks through the “oxo wall” limitation for the late-transition-metals and achieves efficient oxidative removal of refractory organic pollutants in water.
